The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas (POA) is proud to have many talented, young professional musicians and advanced students from New York’s top conservatories. POA is committed to music ranging from the classical standard repertoire to new compositions from both the U.S. and Latin America, bringing to the New York audience a taste of the Americas contemporary music.

POA's mission is to pursue musical excellence, to develop young musical leaders with a cross-cultural vision and the ability to convey a spirit of hemispheric brotherhood through the most universal of languages –that of music. The POA aims promote the work of young composers and performers of the Americas. In addition, an important goal for the orchestra is to take part in interdisciplinary projects, especially in the film, dance and theatre fields, as well as to be a showcase for the talent of emerging young conductors, instrumentalists and composers. The Orchestra intends to hold periodical competitions for young composers from Latin America as well as for soloists from the Americas.

POA is a non-profit organization and will soon launch an ambitious sponsor search campaign, directed to both public and private entities in the United States and some Latin American countries.
