Coordinator Bio

 
  Justin Hines

Arts in Education Coordinator Percussionist Justin Hines has performed both nationally and internationally with a diverse list of professional orchestras and chamber ensembles. As a classical percussionist, he has performed with the New York Philharmonic, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, The Cooperstown Chamber Music Festival, The Jerusalem Symphony, and most recently was appointed principal percussionist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas. He has performed on Broadway with the Tony Award winning productions "Caroline, or Change" and Disney's "Tarzan." He has been a frequent concert host for the Chamber Music Society's Chamber Music Beginnings series at Merkin Concert Hall, as well as hosting and performing in the New York Philharmonic's in-school concert series. Justin's violin/percussion duet JUSTADUO recently performed at Lincoln Center's Merkin Concert Hall, and has future performances planned for Tokyo's Bunka-kaican recital hall in Japan. As an educator, demonstrator, and workshop leader both in New York City and abroad, Justin has written and performed percussion demonstrations for the New York Philharmonic, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the New Jersey Symphony, the St. Louis Symphony, the New World Symphony, and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Justin is currently a teaching artist for the New York Philharmonic and is an education consultant for the new Carnegie Hall / Juilliard Academy Program. He is the recipient of the Pablo Casals Award for Distinguished Musical Service to the Community.
